National EMS Institute now offers a wide variety of Allied Health programs. Allied Health is considered any axillary area in patient care that is not Physician or Nursing delivered. These can be X-ray Technicians, Pharmacy or Physical Therapy. Here at National EMS Institute, we offer classes in the Allied Professions of Phlebotomy, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), EKG Technician and Medical Assistant
The Phlebotomist is the person that draws your blood for analysis at doctors’ offices, labs and hospitals. They work closely with the Laboratory Technicians to ensure the proper amount of blood is obtained and which collection tube must be used to ensure proper results. Many of the blood tests require specific collection tubes and even special procedures to ensure a clean collection. Here at National EMS Institute, the student is taught how to identify and cannulate proper veins, how to identify the proper collection tubes for the tests ordered and other important skills for the phlebotomist to possess. The course length is approximately 100 hours of classroom and lab training, and at it’s completion the student is eligible to take their National Certification Exam.
This 5 week course will be held at 860A Waterman Ave E. Providence, RI on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesdays from 9am-3pm. The deposit for this program is $250. The book is Phlebotomy Essentials 6th Edition. Students are also required to wear National EMS Institute scrubs for this program.
